Our main aim at Periuk is to celebrate diversity, and this extends to the contributors that we welcome to our site.
Anyone regardless of ethnicity, faith, citizenship, migratory status, gender, sexual orientation, age, physical or mental disability, or writing experience, is encouraged to pitch us a story and contribute a recipe. All our contributors need is passion, both for home cooking and for the diverse cultures of Malaysia.
If you are an Orang Asli, Orang Asal, migrant, or refugee, or if you have physical or mental disabilities, we highly encourage you to self-identify when emailing us so that we may provide necessary support.
We are looking for recipes of dishes that you enjoy at home, whether cooked lovingly by your elders as you grew up, back-pocket recipes that you turn to on a weeknight, celebratory dishes that are served at your family gatherings, and everything in between. If you're happy to share your beloved recipes with us, we'd love to document them on this site so other Malaysians can cook and partake in what brings you joy, so they may find comfort in the same meals—together. Please note that we are not looking for recipes to be specifically developed for us at this time.
So what kind of recipes are we looking for? Take a look around the website to see what's currently listed to give you a sense. Whether it's fried chicken or umbut kelapa, butter cake or lompat tikam, every contributed recipe is tested by the Periuk team before it's approved for publishing. Do note that we will not necessarily publish every single recipe contribution, and we will only compensate for the recipes that are published. We also encourage you to look through the website to see if a similar recipe has already been listed.
Ready to contribute? Please click here for our recipe submission form.
We pay standard (Malaysian) market rates for food stories, and token fees for recipes and recipe testing. We are currently planning on how to monetise this site and will be transparent about this once we decide. If you have ideas, or are an interested funder, please contact us!
Our rates for contributors are as below:
If you are part of an underrepresented group, your contributions are eligible for higher remuneration.
